About Brett

I animate, paint, illustrate, draw, design, read, think, and appreciate. I aspire to a compassionate, pleasurable, and sustainable world with equal rights for all. I would like to make art and works out in the world that are beautiful and/or informative. I like collaborating with and working for other people's visions in addition to enjoying my own autonomous projects, and sometimes you're fortunate to do quite creative client work where you get to satisfy both sides.

I also enjoy creating software tutorials and technical explainer writing, searchable documents that can be skimmed, outlined, excerpted, copied, and archived. I like learning to use Markdown formatting for readability and portability.

I have an emphasis on using free and open-source software that makes files accessible for clients and collaborators, easy to retrieve in the future, and private. Freedom from surveillance and training data ingestion before you've chosen to publish allows both Non-Disclosure Agreement compliance and freedom of thought. These software tools include Blender, Inkscape, FFmpeg, GIMP, Scribus, LibreOffice, Tenacity, etc, and more all the time. I use Pop!_OS and Ubuntu Linux at home, on mobile I'm not entirely de-Googled just yet. I'm presently learning to run WordPress from scratch on Digital Ocean and progressing from there, intending to self-host more and more of my network tasks.

I am a graduate of the Missouri State University Bachelor of Fine Arts Computer Animation program where I worked collaboratively and solo in various media as well as using computer software in Adobe Creative Suite such as After Effects, Media Encoder, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc. as well as Newtek LightWave 3D and MS Office.

I'm interested in all arts. I read both nonfiction and fiction particularly science fiction and classic literature. I have very broad nonfiction podcast subscriptions. I enjoy gardening, science & medicine, clean air, cooking & dinner parties, nature and hiking, human rights, history & politics, archery, and generally making things.  I have sometimes been seen bicycling around Springfield, Missouri and the greater 4-States area where I live and work.
