Site Reversion, Missing Posts & Calendar, Mistakes, & Technical Debt

The recurring problem with WordPress, “An error has occurred establishing a connection to the database.” has struck again and I appear to have either not backed up WordPress recently or I misplaced numerous backup copies I thought I had, so the site is reverted to an august version. Thinking about it now, I destructively failed to pay a few cents for a droplet snapshot if I wanted to try reconstructing the completely missing wp-config.php file. If I recall correctly this reversion would mean I’m missing the garden photo blog posts, the posts on my watermelon vine tiling pattern progress, and most annoyingly at the moment the calendar. Remaining dates of the calendar will be reconstructed, we’ll see about the rest.

The long delay of the file system unification continues to cause problems keeping backups and notes organized. There’s also the matter of needing to learn to do WordPress installs from scratch on a nuke and pave droplet instance, WordPress haven’t updated their 1-click droplet on Digital Ocean for too long in favor of doing the more expensive Cloudways managed instances. The export ecosystem is a bit clunky. I do wonder whether the paid official WordPress tools are any more elegant than the Updraft Plus freebies. Sigh.
